Ações e Projetos que disseminam a paz e a tolerância
The Athlete for Peace project emerged with the aim of showing that Islam is a religion like all others, and had as its symbol the Muslim surfer Jihad Khodr. Jihad is the son of Lebanese, born in the city of Matinhos, Paraná, and is the only Muslim surfer who participated in the World Surf League and joined the elite of world surfing.
In the walk for peace, organized by the commission to Combat religious intolerance, in Rio de Janeiro, FAMBRAS mobilizes Muslims and friends of religion to take to the streets. The idea is to bring together a large group of people to promote peaceful coexistence between religions and demand attitudes from the government in combating crimes motivated by religious prejudice.
FAMBRAS, since its foundation, works in an exemplary way to spread the message of peace. As an entity representing Islam in Brazil, a country rich in diversity, the Federation is involved in several actions that value dialogue and union between religions.
The year 2019 marked the 800th anniversary of the meeting between Francis of Assisi and Sultan Al-Malik Al-Kamil Al Ayoubi. At the time, Christians and Muslims saw each other as enemies, but Francis was received by the Muslim religious leader with benevolence and hospitality. From this visit onwards, Francis made important reflections on the mission of the Friars Minor. To remember this historic moment, FAMBRAS promoted a great celebration.
